During 2013 Nuvia, in partnership with Empresarios Agrupados, was awarded the prestigious PMU contract responsible for managing a fund for site decommissioning, as well as the design and construction of a waste disposal facility for the Bulgaria State Enterprise for Radioactive Waste (SERAW).

The recent decision by SERAW to extend Nuvia’s contract for a further three years is a reflection of the excellent work carried out by the team. The breadth and depth of Nuvia’s knowledge and experience in the nuclear industry, and in the field of decommissioning in particular, continues to provide a valuable resource on-site.

Ian Shaw, Nuvia’s Regional Director, said:

“We are delighted to be continuing on this journey with SERAW and our partners, together we have made considerable progress. Nuvia has been working in Eastern Europe for over 20 years, bringing our knowledge, expertise and skills to deliver excellence for our customers.”

The project is funded by the by Kozloduy International Decommissioning Support Fund (KIDSF) managed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and this latest award builds on Nuvia’s existing commitments to the EBRD, with whom the Company has a long standing relationship having delivered a range of projects across Eastern Europe.
