14th RoSPA Gold for Nuvia – 5th President’s Award

Nuvia Limited has once again won a President’s Award in the prestigious RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2011, their 5th in all, meaning they have maintained the RoSPA Gold Award standard for 14 consecutive years.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) launched its awards programme 55 years ago. The scheme looks not only at accident records, but also entrants’ overarching health and safety management systems, including important practices such as strong leadership and workforce involvement. The RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2011 are sponsored by NEBOSH (The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health), the leading health and safety professional examining body.

David Rawlins, RoSPA’s awards manager, said: “RoSPA firmly believes that organisations that have demonstrated their commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention deserve recognition. Nuvia Limited has shown that it is committed to striving for such continuous improvement and we are delighted to honour it through the presentation of an award.”

Nuvia’s Director of Assurance, Richard Birch said “This is excellent news and reflects an excellent submission. However, the award is not just about the quality of our submission, it is really recognition of the very high safety standards that have been developed in the Company with input from Assurance, the Central Trade Union Committee and every member of staff.”

In thanking staff for their hard work “in planning for safety, which has given us the excellent record we currently have.” Head of Assurance Mike Lewis added ,“Next year, should we be successful, we will qualify for the RoSPA Order of Distinction so there can be no letting up in our efforts!”

Dave Adams, Nuvia’s Corporate SHE Manager who has been responsible for preparing Nuvia’s RoSPA submission for many years was naturally delighted, “it is fantastic news and so was our 2010 SHE Performance – through everyone’s hard work and determination. It made all the difference. The Order of Distinction would be great recognition of everyone’s efforts as there are less than a 100 companies in the UK that have achieved this standard of continual improvement”.
