Nuvia win top safety prize at the BECBC Business Awards 2014

BECBC Award winners

Nuvia has scooped the top prize for ‘Excellence in Health and Safety’ at the Britain’s Energy Coast Business Cluster (BECBC) Business Awards 2014.

The BECBC Business Awards 2014 is a celebration of member companies and their achievements – the Awards showcase the variety of companies, the breadth (and the depth) of their expertise and the region’s enthusiasm for success, not only in Cumbria but in the wider world too.

The awards were announced to a packed VIP audience at a gala dinner on Thursday 13 November at the Energus Centre in Cumbria. Kim Inglis hosted the awards and representatives of the sponsoring companies presented the awards during a glittering evening.

Nuvia’s entry (see video below) was based on an excellent and proven Health and Safety track record, its commitment to continually improve and a strong safety culture, based on four pillars, each as important as the other: Leadership, Involvement, Reporting and a Just Culture.

Mike Lewis, Head of Assurance said…“I am delighted that our excellent SHE culture and performance has been recognised. This is the icing on the cake but is only possible by the continued hard work of all staff. Our success in winning the BECBC H&S Excellence Award, as with the RoSPA Engineering Services Sector Award and the Sellafield Contractor’s Safety Award, is due to the things we all do every day to contribute to health and safety. These include submitting UNORs, completing STAR assessments, contributing to safe systems of work, or stopping and re-thinking a job when it doesn’t seem to be going quite as planned. If we continue to do these things, I know our culture and performance will be as strong as ever and we will enjoy more successes like these in the future.”

Britain’s Energy Coast Business Cluster (formerly West Cumbria Business Cluster) is a private sector-led group of 230+ organisations, from SMEs to global businesses.
